The day of leaving finally arrived. Our jobs were completed with the exception of the exterior wall to the compound, but we had arranged for that to be done by the driver and his brother and left sufficient funds to pay for this.
We needed to be early risers as school commences at 07.00 and we wanted to say goodbye to the girls from the home before they left for their activities. Prior to this Ian and his family (our team) wanted to contribute some extra funds in addition to the support that they had already given us. Through their generosity Young Hope has been able to provide:
1. A second water tank for a community in need. Their current water tank was contaminated by rust. They had a second water tank available but did not have the money to plumb it in, Young Hope have now done this for them enabling the community to have fresh water.
2. Musical instruments for the school. The local school provides music lessons for the children but has no instruments. Young Hope was delighted to be able to help with this as we know it will bring so much pleasure to these children. The funds were given into the hands of Sister Arul to pass over.
We then all were able to say our sad goodbyes to the girls of Arunothayam, the home, the nuns and their support workers. Sister Arul and the girls joined together in a prayer for us and we felt very special but sad to go.
